I've now added some photos from Eden Camp to Dad's index. I was a little disappointed to find the Reunion Hut was closed off when we visited, as I'd hoped to re-take a couple of photos of my Dad and Uncle Noel, whose photos were in there. However, I was able to photograph the Bomb Disposal memorial which I hadn't seen before. The rest of the photos will go towards the pages I'm now working on of my Uncle Vincent.
I've also been busy setting up another new website to display my photos of Malta, in which I bought the license to some music I've been wanting for ages. You can see the website at.. http://www.viewsofmalta.com
Till next time..

...for there having been no new entries for quite a while. This has been down to a combination of things... illness, having to re-design my Fan Site at http://www.alexanderoneal.net , a late holiday in Malta during November and having to look after hubby ever since he broke his foot the day after we arrived!
I'm slowly getting back on track and have uploaded the main Bomb Disposal page - found under the index in 'My Dad'. I'm now in the middle of doing the Eden Camp pages, having visited the camp this summer. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into the Reunion Hut to re-take the photos of my Dad & Uncle Noel as it was being re-constructed. However, I did manage to re-photograph Uncle Vinty and the HMS Glorious display in another of the huts.
Dad's War Medal page is waiting on a photograph of the medals.. hubby has it on his mobile I think.
I'll be back after Christmas to complete Dad's pages before moving on to Uncle Vinty's... which will be very interesting.
Have a good Christmas!

If you're wondering where the Photo Gallery is, I can tell you. I've taken it off, albeit temporarily. It's been quite a frustrating day trying to upload photos to the Photo Gallery and my Dad's Bio. I think it's something running slow on the hosting side. grrrrr! However, I've managed to write the Bio, just can't add any photos yet.
I'll see what tomorrow brings...
While I wait, I'm writing out the 'Germany - Bomb Disposal' Chapter (again with no photos!), but at least I'm able to get on and do that. There's a lot more to add to his pages, which will have me typing over the coming week, but it's all for a good cause. ![]()
I'm thinking of adding a page titled, 'The story behind the photos' because of course, anyone looking at them won't necessarily know 'about' them. There aren't too many though, as not a lot of photos were taken during or after the war, but those that I have and will use for the website, I think I they deserve a little description.
Footnote: It's probably just as well I'm doing my Dad's pages first, because by the time I get to Uncle Noel and Vinty's stuff, I'll probably have to upgrade for more web space! ![]()
Off to do a couple more pages now.. a Links page to various websites around the net that tie in with the website and an 'About Me' page.
S'later!... x

As things turned out, today was THE day I could be heard breathing a sigh of relief. A few months before my Dad died I'd had the foresight to ask him to tell me all the places he'd been stationed at during the war. I'd scribbled them all down on a piece of paper and in my mind I knew I had it somewhere, but finding it again was going to take a little time. Fortunately, after a good rummage round, I found it in a file I'd forgotten about. Without that piece of paper I would never have remembered all the places he'd been to!
When my husband took me to Germany for a visit a few years ago, we made a point of staying at Lubec, the very place my Dad had been stationed at. I don't suppose he ever thought one of his daughters would end up going there, but it's a very pretty place. It's a strange thing, but neither me or my husband can actually remember if we visited Emden itself, probably because we visited so many places at the time!
Footnote: I was going to cover Dad's Bio first, but having found the list I decided to do that first in case it gets lost again!

The idea for this website came about while I was undertaking the arduous task of trying to save our precious family photos, which were slowly deteriorating in old photograph albums. I'm currently doing the old black and white photos first and I've having to scan them into the computer, upload them into photo editing software and correct each and every one. It's a pain-staking task, but very rewarding to see the photos before and after.
While doing some photos of my Dad I got the idea of putting them onto a website, (along with the photos taken of my Uncle Vinty and Uncle Noel), as a commemorative book. I wanted to show how brave they were and essentially, have this made available for family and anyone interested in World War 2, the RAF, the Navy, The Fleet Air Arm, HMS Glorious, Bomber Command and Wellington Bombers, etc.
I've finished editing most of the photos I'll be using on the section about my Dad, the next task coming up, will be to write his Bio.
